i can empathize - i had my Maggie Bear for 13years (since i was 12) and we had to put her down on Christmas eve this past year 
just keep thinking of it this way, she'll be a puppy forever now, and be able to run around again and not have to worry about old joints and such... and she'll be waiting for you to join her, years down the road
